Who We Are

We are a fine arts academy founded in 2019 in Singapore. Smt. Yadavalli Seshu Kumari, founder and director of Swara Laya Arts, has established this institution to promote and develop an interest in Indian culture and the arts among the younger generation, with the motto that music can change lives for the better. We are affiliated with Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University (India), a NAAC-accredited University.

What We Offer

Swara Laya Arts holds classes for students of all ages and ethnicities. We have 5 branches in Singapore and also offer online classes for overseas students. We conduct theory and practical exams yearly with assessments in line with the university syllabus, giving certificates based on their achievements. Since 2019, Swara Laya has been giving classes and courses to train students in Annamayya Sankeerthanas, Ramadasu Sankeerthanas, Sivapadam songs, Bhajans, light music, and film songs for those interested in areas other than pure Carnatic Classical Music.

Background

Guru Smt. Seshu Kumari holds a Master’s Degree in Carnatic Classical Music, M.A Music from the University of Madras, Tamil Nadu. Smt. Yadavalli Seshu Kumari was trained by many renowned vocalists; Smt. Gowri Gokul, Singapore, Smt. G. Sarada Subrahmanyam, India.

Achievements

Smt. Yadavalli Seshu Kumari worked as a Music Teacher at Global Indian International School, Singapore (GIIS) and conducted international-level music competitions for the school. She was also certified as a trainer of Indian music by the Singapore government and gave classes from 2018 to 2021. She served as a judge for national and international competitions conducted by Arts Hub Singapore, World Telugu Cultural Festival Competitions, Kg Chai Chee Community Club Singapore, and Kannadasan competitions run by the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and more.

Guru Seshu Kumari is a seasoned and versatile artist who has performed regularly in cultural events, temple festivals and at various organizations in Singapore and sang for live dance performances and arangetrams, sang solos and duets for the album, Prashanti, released by Sri Satya Sai Organization, Singapore and Isai Muthukkal, organized by Tamil Language Council, Singapore & Traditional Music of Tanjore, Singapore, etc. She sang on All India Radio back in India. Music scholars well appreciated her solo concerts both in India and Singapore.

She has to her credit some songs written and composed by herself and presented in events like TANA Prapancha Telugu Maha Kavi Sammelanam 2021, Antarjaateeya Samskrutika Sammelanam 2021 by Sri Samskruthika Kala Saradhi, Singapore. Guru Smt. Yadavalli Seshu Kumari has received Women Excellency Batukamma Award - 2019 from the Telangana Government, Federation of NRI Cultural Association & PRAD for her excellent work and Service to society through Indian Arts.

As a guru, her focus has been to give holistic training to the students and bring out the best in them. Her students have done exceptionally well and received prizes in various international competitions. As a guru, she trained students for concerts at cultural events, temple festivals, etc., and events honoring Gurus (Guru Vandana).
